The Gatsby Foundation is one of a number of different independent grant-making trusts established by members of three generations of the Sainsbury family.
Gatsby works in areas that David Sainsbury and the Trustees are particularly passionate about and where they believe charitable funding can make a real difference. Gatsby is currently active in:
- Plant Science
- Neuroscience
- Education
- Africa
- Public Policy
- Arts
Across all areas, we aim to be more than a funder. We act as an enabler for projects, designing, developing, overseeing and, in some cases, delivering activities.
Each of the Sainsbury Family Charitable Trusts is an independent legal entity with its own separate and autonomous board of trustees, actively led by an individual member of the Sainsbury family, and is registered as a data controller with the UK Information Commissioner’s Office.
The Gatsby Foundation and Gatsby Africa are registered as a data controller with the UK Information Commissioner’s Office.
