CoreHaus
CoreHaus’ Approach to Apprenticeships and Local Engagement
CoreHaus are UK-based specialists in modular housing solutions, with offices in the North East and the North West of England. They are passionate about the creation of social value, and are dedicated to making a lasting impact through working with local businesses, and providing training, education and employment opportunities for their communities.
For CoreHaus, “being able to raise awareness about your business attracts the right sort of people.”
This includes people like Matthew Watson (pictured), who was recruited to the business as an apprentice. Matthew completed a Engineering & Manufacturing Apprenticeship with CoreHaus, alongside an additional qualification in the construction, assembly and installation of modular housing. As an apprentice, Matthew spent 80% of his time on the job, developing his skills and gaining experience, and 20% of his time completing off-the-job training, which is a form of learning that may be delivered remotely, at the workplace, or at a college or training provider site (or a combination of these).
Apprenticeships offer an effective way for organisations to grow talent and develop a motivated, skilled and qualified workforce. In Matthew’s case, his apprenticeship enabled him to gain the skills that CoreHaus needed, and helped him progress to a Technician role within the company. As Matthew puts it:
“The benefit to the business is being able to mould the apprentice into the worker that they want.”
More recently, CoreHaus have benefited from using free Education Landscape resources to support them to further engage within their supply chains and local communities:
“CoreHaus has developed a lot of good relationships with schools, colleges and training providers. This shows our commitment to support the young people in the local area.”
“The Guide and Index will help us explore different avenues and help us develop the avenues that we know are applicable to us which will help us engage with the correct people.”
