AkzoNobel – Emilia
How a Supported Internship Led to a Role at AkzoNobel
“I first started working at AkzoNobel on a Supported Internship. I found my internship by asking my college about what would be good for me. I did one day a week at first and then two days, then three.
Doing the internship really built up my confidence and helped me get outside my comfort zone. I have done lots of training, including Food Hygiene. I even won two awards for helping a lot of people and for supporting an Employer Forum.
Doing my Supported Internship helped me to get my job -I am now a Kitchen Assistant at AkzoNobel.
I do all sorts of things in my job. I do all the dishes, empty the dishwasher, sort the condiments and do the cleaning. I used to be very quiet but now talking to people is one of my favouriteparts of my job.
My top tip for other students and
businesses is to give a Supported Internship a try – you will like it.”
